Week 19 and Interview with Alysa Martinez

Welcome to week 19 of your pregnancy, mama! You're so close to halfway in this journey, and I'm so excited to tell you all of the things going on this week.

Weighing in at 8 ounces and 6 inches long, your little prince or princess has gone through a growth spurt. Now covered in a cheesy like substance called Vernix Caseosa, your baby’s skin is now protected from becoming a wrinkled mess from the surrounding amniotic fluid. As you get closer to your due date, your baby will start to shed this coating, but may still have remnants of it on their skin at birth.

As your due date approaches, now is a good time to start thinking about which birthing and parenting classes you’re interested in taking. While you may not be attending the classes until your third trimester, these classes can fill up fast. Check your local hospital or birth center to see what classes they offer and make sure to find a date that works for you.

Alysa Martinez, Founder of The Mighty Mama

Our interview this week is with Alysa Martinez

Alysa Martinez is the founder of The Mighty Mama Box. She is a mama to a beautiful redhead boy who is every bit as sassy and independent as she is, and a wife to her amazingly supportive husband!

As she was on her postpartum journey she was trying to figure out her place in the new world of being a wife and mother. Feeling lost and like she had nowhere to turn for support and guidance. She found herself googling, and searching social media for any and all questions motherhood related, at all times of the night.

Alysa needed to feel like she wasn’t alone, because let's face it - being a mom is HARD! She had no idea where to even begin looking for a community that would be able to relate to her struggles or lift her up when she needed to hear that she was enough. And so The Mighty Mama was Born!
