Welcome to week 12 of your amazing journey. This week baby is 2 1/4 inches long and weighs about half an ounce. Almost all of your little one’s bodily structures have been formed and now they will continue developing an evolving so they will be fully functioning by the time she’s born.
Your baby's bone marrow is starting to make white blood cells that will help baby fight off infections someday. Her pituitary gland is producing hormones that will allow her to make babies of her own someday. Just think if you are having a little girl, as her ovaries develop, the eggs carried inside could be your grandchildren someday.
As for you mama, your uterus is now about the size of a large grapefruit and is now higher than your pelvis and migrating towards your abdomen. Now that you are almost to your second trimester, symptoms like nausea, fatigue, food aversions, and the frequent need to pee should start to bother you less. Unfortunately, dizziness might replace these dreaded symptoms.
Our interview this week is with Dr. Tiffany Hubman. Dr. Hubman and I served together as Military Police Officers in the U.S. Army. Now married with two young boys Dr. Hubman is going through her medical residency in Southwest Florida. She enjoys Brazilian jujitsu, yoga, and lifting weights in her free time.
Dr. Hubman’s advice to expect at moms is to make sure that you’re always taking your prenatal vitamin.
This was my very first interview on the BumpCast and I’m so glad it was with my good friend Dr. Tiffany Hubman. Please enjoy the interview as she talks about her first pregnancy and getting an emergency cerclage.
